LevelUp for Hacker News (“the App”) is published by Hemant Chaudhary at Sudofish Labs. This policy describes how we collect, use, and share information.

1. Information We Collect

  • Google/Apple Sign-In (Optional): Your name and email address, if provided, for your account and AI credits. We do not receive your password.
  • In-App Purchases: Purchase records and credit balances. Apple or Google processes payments; we do not store payment card details.
  • Support: Messages and contact details you send us.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide AI summaries and manage accounts, purchases, and credits.
  • Improve app performance, fix bugs, and respond to support requests.
  • Process article information, including URLs and content, with our AI provider to generate summaries.
  • Send search terms and date filters to Algolia to return search results.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with:

  • PostHog: For analytics and crash reporting, using usage, device, and signed-in account data.
  • Apple/Google: For sign-in and in-app purchases.
  • RevenueCat: For purchase verification.
  • Hacker News/Algolia: For stories, comments, and search.
  • Hosting and AI providers: To run the app and generate summaries.

4. Data Storage and Security

Saved stories, reading preferences, and sign-in details are stored on your device. Saved stories and preferences do not sync between devices.

We retain information as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Account deletion removes associated personal information, except records needed for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.

We use safeguards to protect your information. No method is completely secure.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your data, or object to its processing.

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws.
